For an application to be successful, the job must be approved by the SINP and the applicant must meet the qualification criteria.
To be eligible for the Skilled Worker Category of the SINP, the international worker must live outside of Canada, or have proof of their legal status in Canada, and cannot be considered a refugee. He/she must have an offer of permanent full-time employment for a job that fits within the SINP qualifications.
Jobs that qualify for the SINP Skilled Worker Category must fit within the National Occupational Classification (NOC) Matrix; Level ‘0’, ‘A’ or ‘B’, or be identified as a designated trade in Saskatchewan.
The NOC Matrix is the nationally accepted reference on occupations in Canada. The jobs in Matrix Level ‘0’ are management occupations. Jobs listed in Matrix Level ‘A’ and ‘B’ are skilled employment positions that typically require a university or college education or apprenticeship training. The jobs and the related descriptions are outlined in major groupings within specific sectors of the economy.
There are 48 designated trades in Saskatchewan, however, not all are eligible for the SINP. The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission provides a description of each of the designated trades that qualify for employment positions within the SINP.
