Important Documents

Employers, regulatory bodies, credential assessment agencies or educational institutions may ask you for documents related to your education and work experience.  You will likely refer to these documents in your résumé.

It is a good idea to bring originals of your documents with you to Saskatchewan.  If you want to work in a regulated occupation or study at a particular institution, it is important to check with the organization first.  Sometimes, the regulator or educational institution may require you to have documents sent to them directly from institutions in your home country.  It will usually be easier to make these arrangements before you leave your home country.

Education Documents

Education documents are records from your secondary school, college, or university.  These include degrees, diplomas, and certificates.  Program descriptions, transcripts, or detailed course information can also be useful.

Work Experience Documents

Bring documents that explain your past work experience; such as job descriptions, employment records, performance evaluations, letters from employers and work supervisors, and descriptions of training that you have completed.

Translations

Some organizations may only accept documents translated by certain companies or their own agencies.  To avoid spending money on a translation that is not accepted, ask the organization you are applying to if they have certain requirements for translations.

Here is a list of questions you may want to ask when an organization asks for documents.

  • What documents do you require?
  • Which documents can I bring with me?
  • Which ones need to be sent directly from the institution that issued them?
  • Which ones need to be translated?
  • Where can I have them translated?
  • Do you have any specific requirements for the translation?
