Education and Training Opportunities

As you research your occupation, you may find you need to upgrade your skills to become certified or licensed to practise in Saskatchewan or to show employers that you will be able to meet their job requirements.  If you decide to work in another occupation, you may also require additional training.

If your occupation is regulated, contact your regulatory body for information on what additional training or education you will require for certification and where you can obtain the training.

If you are not a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, you may need to get a study permit to take some kinds of training in Saskatchewan

Assess Your Training Needs

Many skills training courses and educational programs are available across Saskatchewan.  It is important to know exactly what training you need for a specific job before you enrol in a training program.

Some helpful questions to ask yourself are:

  • What skills do I need for the type of work I am looking for?  Will this training give me those skills?
  • What credentials will I have once the course/program is completed? (e.g. certificate, diploma, etc.)
  • What are the costs?  Am I eligible for any subsidies or financial help?
  • What organizations provide this training?  Are they registered and legitimate?

You can get help to decide what training would best meet your needs and career goals by contacting one of the Career and Employment Services Offices across Saskatchewan.
