Learn about Settlement Services

Be sure to learn about the settlement services and programs that are available to you and your business before the international worker arrives in Saskatchewan.   When you are knowledgeable about what is available, you can refer your international worker to the right supports and services.

The Government of Saskatchewan has established a group of Regional Newcomer Gateways across Saskatchewan that can help newcomers find the information, resources, services and people they need to make their move to Saskatchewan a success.  Your local gateway can help you to plan for an international worker’s arrival and to prepare your existing staff.  Settlement advisors, who work out of Regional Newcomer Gateways, can help you understand which services and supports are available and to plan for your employee’s arrival.

There are also many ethno-cultural groups in Saskatchewan that will assist you in welcoming your international worker to the community.  You can help your international worker by contacting your local cultural association to find out more before they arrive.

Diversity Training

Not all of your workers will be accustomed to diversity in the workplace.  To make sure that your work environment is welcoming and positive for everyone, it may be necessary for you to establish a greater level of cultural awareness and sensitivity in the workplace.  You can seek the services of specialists in diversity training to help you.  There are many groups you can turn to for help in this area.  Consider contacting your Regional Newcomer Gateway, an Open Door Society, or other multi-cultural organization to help you to plan diversity training.
